The Right of Nature, 13″ x 13″, Encaustic and mixed media, 2009
My first of two solo shows this year opened today in Portland, Oregon. I’m filling the walls at CUBE Gallery with my show, Chasing Time, from February 28 – March 31. There will be an opening reception on March 6 from 5 – 8 pm. I hope to see some of you there, but if you are too far away check back here this weekend for photos of the event.

Getting everything to the gallery is often a big project too, but my new padded boxes made it so much easier. They were originally made to ship computer parts but I can buy them at a local reuse store in great condition for shipping and storing my paintings. Genius!

I love the box idea – where in town did you get them? If you are so inclined to share!
I am so sorry I didn’t get to stop by during the artwalk but I will try to make it opening night! I want to see your stuff and Sheary’s and have an art night of hot wax! whoo hoo!

I am loving this particular group of paintings of yours… just beautiful. I wish I could see them in person (Portland is a long way from Kentucky).
Also, the rimmed frames are great – are you willing to share where you got them? I think they might be what I need. It would make the whole shipping ordeal a little less nerve wracking.
The boxes are a fabulous idea, and thank you so much for sharing – it is most helpful for people like me who are just starting out.

Hi Amy, Thanks for you kind words about my work. I’m loving these new paintings too and feel like I’ve really found my path.
I have my float frames made in Portland by Matt McCalmont of http://www.ArtSubstrates.com.They aren’t listed on his web site yet. He and I worked together on the design and I know he’s made them for some of my students. Just email him and ask for a quote including shipping. He’s a really nice guy.
As for the boxes, contact computer parts companies in your area and I’ll bet you can buy component part boxes from them locally. Good luck!
